The Kingdom or Syiemship of Cherra (Sohra) during the 19th and 20th centuries mainly comprised the ‘Khadar Shnong’, ‘Khadhynriew Shnong’, and ‘Laishnong’. On the death of Roba Singh in 1918, U Join Manik Syiem was elected as the ruler on account of his position as the Deputy Syiem. U Join Manik had a long reign, from 1918 up till his death in 1963.
