Geological Map of Tharia Ghat to Nongkhlaw

This map shows a portion of the Khasi Hills from the regions of Tharia Ghat all the way to Nongkhlaw. The portion of the map immediately south of the Station of Cherra Poonjee has been constructed by Lieutenant H. Yule during the years 1841-42.
During Oldham’s five-months visit to Cherra Poonjee in the year 1851, nearly 400 inches of rain fell. With only 63 working days, the survey could not be completed.
During the rainy season of 1852, Thomas Oldham was aided by Mr. Medlicott and Mr. St. George to complete the survey of the hills, from the station across to Nongkhlaw.
